This female feline Warrior
of Bast from Crocodile Games' Wargods of Ægyptus was an absolute
joy to paint. Like most of the Wargods line, the model is
not bogged down with unnecessary details like so many miniatures seem to
be these days. Keeping with the minimalist theme, and so as not to
detract any attention away from the model itself, I opted for a very
plain sandy base textured with Corn Meal.
I'm especially pleased
with the way the face turned out, but much of the credit has to go to
Chris Fitzpatrick's wonderful sculpt. I certainly plan to paint
more Wargods figures soon, as they very nearly paint themselves.
This was my first real
attempt at a dark bronze metal... and while I'm not convinced it
actually looks like metal, I liked the color a lot, so decided to keep
it. I contrasted the smooth, clean lines of the cloth and
accessories with a rougher, more organic style on the "skin" to
hopefully help represent short fur. The effect is much better in
real life!
I knew my camera/computer
didn't care for the color red... I didn't realize how much it also hates
greys! The photos came out very grainy and dark, unforunately.
Now if the Croc would just
get a move on with the Wargods of Olympus figures...
