The Summer of Chaos descended upon us in 2002, and
despite strong resistance of will, I finally succumbed to the seductive
powers of the Warp.
The inspiration for this model came not from any great
piece of Games Workshop artwork, but rather from a character of my own
devising, whose back story will appear upon this site in time.
Suffice it to say, she is a highborn lady of great influence within the cult
of Slaanesh, and has had her armor and title bestowed upon her by very great
Chaos powers.
"What the?!?" I hear you purists cry, "A female
space marine? Never!!"
Yet the whims and wiles of the young Chaos god Slaanesh
work in mysterious ways, and he seeks his minions from not only the most
ruthless and cunning, but the most beautiful and talented as well. And
the new Codex: Chaos states, on page 55:
"Slaanesh may appear as male, female,
hermaphrodite or androgynous."
If the power itself may assume any of these forms, then
why not its minions?
This was a very involved project, and I am happy to
report that the finished conversion bears a very strong resemblance to the
image in my mind, despite her lack of wings (which were either too large or
too small, and could not find a home anywhere on her back). This model
uses no less (and certainly more!) than 20 pieces of other miniatures, as
well as Green Stuff, brass rod, fine chain, and florists' wire. But
enough nattering on... let's get to it!
