The Assassin

A description of this being is unavailable, as no agent has actually seen him. We know of his existence only through hearsay and reports, flotsam left in the wake of his action.

Neter-Khertet is Anekh Sum’aht’s assassin. During the Corruption of Exultan II, we know that the Lord-Commander of the Arbites, several high-ranking members of the Planetary Defense Force, many members of the royal council, and the Governor’s Royal Bodyguard were all murdered the night before the coordinated Chaos attacks. All were decapitated and dismembered in the same manner, leading us to believe that Neter-Khertet was responsible for all the deaths in the capital that night. But beyond their deaths, Imperial psykers could not even locate their very souls for post-mortem séance interrogation; it was as if their very spirits had been murdered along with their corporeal forms.

Stories of Neter-Khertet’s exploits indicate that his skill at stealth, deception, and the arts of death rival that of any Imperial assassin. It is suspected that before the Great Heresy, he may have even trained at one of the ancient Temples of Callidus or Eversor, although this supposition borders on the heretical. He is never seen, but in the passing of his shadow there is only death.
