During an unexpected lull in the tectonic activity on Fenris the Space Wolves found themselves facing a dilemma never before encountered; too many recruits. As the tribes of Fenris were able to settle longer in one place and more and more males made it to the age where they could be recruited the roles of inductees continued to grow.

    Logan Grimnar saw the problem coming as his companies grew larger and larger in strength and he knew that soon he would need to do something about it. He knew what the solution had to be, he knew he would need to split the chapter and found a successor chapter to the Space Wolves. He gathered his Company Wolf Lords together to discuss how and when the new chapter would be founded, and on what principles it would be founded.

    During counsel with his Wolf Lords the great assembly discussed new problems emerging in their Companies. One of their biggest concerns was the influx of new Blood Claws who were impetuous in battle and far too head strong. The ranks of the older Wolf Guard were stretched too thin trying to contain the energies of so many new Blood Claws.

    Logan Grimnar listened carefully to their concerns and decided that the new Chapter must be founded with one thing in mind; assault troops. He decided that with the huge influx of raw recruits there was a need to build a corps of rapid assault troops capable of conducting rapid insertions using drop pods from orbit. This would mean that this new chapter would be almost completely devoid of any tanks or anything else that could not be dropped.

    With this suggestion all of the gathered Wolf Lords were in agreement and plans were devised on which companies would give up Packs and how many they would provide. As a central part of the plan The Great Wolf directed that special consideration be given to selecting a cadre of wolf guard and wolf scouts who were particularly adept at close quarters fighting.

    The last thing to decide for the gathered wolves was the name for the successor chapter and where their base would be. It was decided that the new base could not be founded far from Fenris for that is where all space wolves must come from and this chapter, although a successor chapter, would be no different. Thus the most obvious place was one of the small moons of Fenris where the newly founded chapter could stay in the protective umbrella of the Space Wolves while they organized and prepared to move out on their own. Next came the name for the chapter, which it was decided, must contain their lineage back to the Space Wolves. After much discussion the name Son s of Fenris was suggested and everyone gathered at the assembly agreed that it would be a fine name and a constant reminder to their heritage.

    At the conclusion of the meeting the gathered wolf lords made their way back to their own assembly halls to begin the process of selecting the individuals suitable for the Sons of Fenris founding.
