This miniature, who
reminded me of Tank Girl in a very GasLight sort of way, was the limited
edition model commissioned for the
Fourth Annual Female Miniatures Painting Challenge hosted by Jason
Moses on his True
Believers site (affectionately referred to as the "Chick Challenge,"
which is why this model is more widely called the "CCIV Chick.").
This nifty model was designed by Jason Moses, and brought to life by
sculptor Steve Buddle, who did a marvelous job indeed.
The model is unconverted
in any way, other than the decorative base I constructed. The rock
she's perched on is an ordinary stone from the yard, while the stove
pipe was made from a length of plastic tubing. A dial/spigot bit
was added from a jerry cans kit by Tamiya, and a small wheel was added
from some other WWII Tamiya accessories kit. The ground cover is
Woodland Scenics fine ballast.
For this model, I wanted
to use a different palette than I had tried before, trying to keep her
in very natural earth-tones. I chose Vallejo Model Colour dark
greens for her clothing to affect a very military feel that seemed to
fit her style of jacket, and continued that theme by attempting an olive
skin tone. The white "V" of the shirt hopefully directs the eye to
the face, the focal point of any miniature.
I was rather pleased with
the way she turned out, and this entry in the Fourth Chick Challenge
earned me a third-place win in the CCIV Chick category. |
