Commissions

I am currently accepting Commissions.  Please keep in mind that I try to paint every model to the absolute highest standards, and therefore will be accepting commissions for single figures or units no larger than 10 models.  Prices will be determined on a case by case basis, but the following list provides guidelines of what a particular commission will cost.  When emailing me, please include as specific a description as possible of what you would like, including color scheme, basing requirements, weapon layouts, posing, etc.  Also please be sure your Email subject is specific, i.e., "Commission Request: Evil Knight," so that the mail does not get filtered through to my junk mail.

When considering the following list, please browse through my Galleries.  For example, I would consider my Asphyxious to be "Display Quality," while the Blood Ravens Librarian would be considered  "Competition Quality."

If you are interested in a commission work, please Email me at TSchadle@hotmail.com

Pricing Guidelines

The following list provides basic starting points for some generic model categories, to give you an idea of what to expect.  Prices include cleaning, assembly, and paint job, standard scenic gaming bases, a layer of protective sealant (usually several), and packaging materials, but not shipping costs nor the costs of the models themselves.  This list assumes 28mm/Heroic Scale miniatures.

Model Type Basic Price
Infantry Single Display: $150
Competition: $275
Vehicle/Monster Display: $300
Competition: $500
Cavalry Single Display: $250
Competition: $400
Squad of 10 Infantry Display: $600
Squad of 5 Cavalry Display: $600

Note that there is no squad/unit pricing for Competition standard - in such a commission, each model is considered a separate individual piece.

Models

Models for commissions may either be shipped to me, or I can purchase them.  If I purchase the models, the cost of the models or any conversion pieces, including the shipping costs of these items, must be paid before I begin the commission.  Note that if I am purchasing the models or bits, it generally takes 7 to 14 days for me to receive them.

Payment

I accept PayPal and US Postal Money orders as payment.  I require a 10% down payment on any commissions, as well as the cost of any models or bits that I will be supplying paid up front before I begin work on the commission.  This "Earnest Money" ensures me that only serious clients will request a commission piece.  The remaining 90% plus shipping costs will come due when I have completed the commission.  If for any reason you are unable to pay for a completed commission at that time, the model will be reserved for 14 calendar days, at which point, if payment still has not been received, I will make the model available for sale to another client or on eBay.

Shipping

Within the US, I ship via USPS Priority Mail.  My basic shipping price for a single figure includes Delivery Confirmation and Insurance up to $100, and is $6.50, which is the actual cost - there is no "handling fee."  Insurance fees increase by $1.00 for every $100 or portion thereof above that.  So, for example, a single model with $250 Insurance would cost $8.50 to ship.

Worldwide, I will ship air mail, as the USPS will not insure Global Priority Mail.  These prices will be figured on a case by case basis, using the charts posted at the USPS website.

If the client would prefer a different method of shipping (FedEx, UPS, etc), that can be agreed upon individually as well.

I have not had any problems shipping with the USPS, but cannot guarantee the safety of models.  I do everything in my power to ensure that the models will arrive to you safely, but cannot accept responsibility for damages that occur through USPS mishandling, which is why I suggest Insuring every piece for its full value.  In the unlikely event that any damage does occur, I will be happy to repair it for you if it is sent back to me, but a full refund cannot be given.

Reproductions

I am often asked if I can reproduce one of the extensive conversions in my Galleries, or the work of another artist or painter.  The short answer is "no."  It is impossible for me to emulate the painting, modeling, or sculpting style of another artist, and it is very difficult for me to try and recreate a conversion I have already done.  Pieces such as my Golden Demon winning entries are even more difficult, as they are truly unique and elaborate in their execution, and so while the end result may be similar, it cannot be exact, and to avoid disappointment, I would rather not attempt such a commission, unless the client were to understand that it would not be an exact duplication of what they have seen.  Also, part of what clients pay for when commissioning a unique, Competition-quality conversions is the privilege of having a unique, one-of-a-kind model all to themselves.  Copying these pieces therefore devalues them.

This does not mean that I cannot match the color scheme of your existing army, just that unique character pieces are near impossible to reproduce.  Color matching is not a problem!

Timeline

I can give only one guarantee when it comes to my project schedule: Whatever I tell you will be wrong!  Please check out the Project Queue page to see what items are in the pipeline.

Pictures

I reserve the right to photograph any of my commission works and to display them on my web page, or use as advertisement.  This can attest to the time and effort I will put into each piece I work on, as I will be proud to show them off.  You own the miniature, but I still retain ownership of its artistry and images.
