I am lucky
enough to be able to dedicate an entire room in my apartment to use as my
studio. This is where all the modeling and painting goes on.
As you can
see, there is lots of storage space for raw materials, ongoing projects, and
finished pieces, yet it seems that no matter how much space I have, I always
seem to run out of room.
From top to
bottom, the pictures circle my work room; The shelf in the top picture is
just inside the door, and the pictures progress as you turn
counter-clockwise around the room.
And YES, that
is the digital camera's power cord foreshortened in the third
picture.
The two new pictures at the top show my new paint racks.
You can see in the third photo my old system, using spice racks and
silverware trays from K-Mart. The drawback (besides my paint
collection outgrowing the space I had) was that it took up half the depth of
my work surface. With the new racks, not only do all my paints FIT
again, but they're all flat up against the wall, re-claiming most of my
desk. This nearly doubled my usable work space.
I don't have any woodworking tools. I have a
circular saw, a power sander, and a power drill -- that's it. But that
was all I needed for these simple constructions. And while they may
not win any beauty contests, they serve their purpose quite well, and only
took an afternoon to cobble together. Cheap, too - less than $20.00
worth of wood (and screws) to hold well over 300 paints! |
